About Glitched

Bag with drawn thread detailing

The most precious blankets are the moth-eaten, worn and damaged. Drawn thread detailing creates new asymmetric patterns - worn or broken threads on the vintage Welsh tapestry fabric pieces are removed to create random 'glitch' effects. No pattern of damage is the same - every piece is unique.

The traditional double weave construction of Welsh tapestry blankets allows for rows of threads to be removed to reveal contrast colours from the underneath layer. Removal of only the damaged threads from vintage blanket pieces creates unexpected patterns using the random effects of wear and tear to dictate the design process and repurposing a beautiful traditional textile.
